Fuerteventura Launches Olive Oil Production for Local Farmers
The Fuerteventura Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries Department is offering local olive growers the chance to produce virgin olive oil at its olive mill. This initiative kicks off the 2026 milling campaign at the Pozo Negro experimental farm.

Farmers can book appointments by calling 928 87 86 25.
The harvesting season starts in August with Manzanilla and Arbequina olives, followed by Hojiblanca and Picual in September, and concludes with Verdial olives at the end of September and into October.
There are specific conditions for olive delivery:
- All information on the olive receipt must be accurate.
- Farmers must declare their cultivation plots using SIGPAC references (polygon, plot, and section).
- The minimum batch received from each farmer is 200 kilograms, following the mill’s machinery guidelines.
- Olives should be delivered in breathable containers, weighing no more than 20 kilograms.
- Only olives free of leaves and visible dirt will be accepted.
- Farmers must adhere to the safety periods for approved phytosanitary products.
- Any olives not meeting health standards will be rejected.
- Olives treated with unauthorised pesticides will also be turned away.
- Even olives treated with approved products will be rejected if they do not meet safety deadlines.
