Maxorata Spar Padilla Crowned Youth Wrestling Champions in Fuerteventura
On Saturday, Maxorata Spar Padilla triumphed at the Santiago Ojeda youth wrestling tournament held at the Pedro Sánchez arena in Tarajalejo, Fuerteventura. They secured the title of Canary Islands champions by defeating Tao Cicar Orly Club with a score of 12-9.
The event drew a full crowd, continuing the trend seen throughout the season in the eastern islands of the archipelago, with Samuel Cabrera officiating the matches. Maxorata maintained an early lead, demonstrating superior strength, while the Tao wrestlers, despite their preparation, struggled to compete.
This victory marks the second title for Maxorata Spar Padilla in this competition, while Tao retains one championship in their history.
Notable performances included Tasarte Rodríguez from Maxorata, who eliminated Romen Marrero, Eliser Martín, and Oriol Páez. Tomás Cabrera also performed well, tossing Echedey Acuña and José Andrés Hernández, securing a commanding presence on the mat.
The tournament offered an exciting display of skill and competition, with local officials, including Teguise councillors and the Cabildo’s social welfare advisor, in attendance to support their teams.
Tinajo Elecmor Launches as the First Inclusive Wrestling Club
On Tuesday, July 28, at 10 am, the Tinajo Elecmor club will be introduced as Lanzarote’s first inclusive wrestling club. The event will take place in the Cabildo Insular de Lanzarote’s plenary hall and welcomes all wrestling club presidents and officials from the island, marking a significant moment in local sports history.
