The council of Puerto del Rosario has strongly condemned a promotional campaign circulating on social media. This initiative, created by a content creator, aims to advertise a publication using a misleading and sensational image of the town.
The local authority described it as unacceptable for Puerto del Rosario’s name to be used to spread a distorted image tied to crime, damaging the reputation of both the municipality and its residents. The council emphasised that behind the town’s name are thousands of community members who work hard to present an open and welcoming city, alongside numerous businesses striving to enhance its image.
Furthermore, the council expressed concern over the use of controversial and misleading content to gain social media visibility. Such tactics can distort public perception, negatively affecting community relations and the reputation of Fuerteventura as a whole.
Reiterating its commitment to safety and well-being, the council assured that it consistently collaborates with security forces to improve the quality of life in the area. Recent efforts have shown improvements in safety indicators and increased resources for resident protection.
