Police Investigate Cannabis Product Sales in Mogán
The Mogán Local Police in southern Gran Canaria are investigating a Taurito establishment suspected of violating public health laws by selling cannabis-derived products. Allegations have arisen concerning products containing higher levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main psychoactive component, than permitted by law.
According to a statement from the local council, a K9 unit detected over ten types of products marketed as CBD (cannabidiol), a non-psychoactive cannabis compound. Upon further inspection, officers found several labelling irregularities and inadequate consumer information.
Some products lacked details about their nature, origin, or distributor, while others did not clearly state their CBD and THC percentages. The seized items have been sent to the Forensic Science Institute in Santiago de Compostela for analysis.
Authorities have transferred the case to the judicial system to identify any potential criminal or administrative liabilities. This operation is part of the Mogán Local Police’s regular inspections, particularly in establishments selling products under specific regulations.
