Gran Canaria is under a yellow weather alert for soaring temperatures, as issued by the Spanish Meteorological Agency (Aemet). This warning applies specifically to the island’s peaks and its eastern, southern, and western slopes.
The alert is in effect until 7pm on Thursday, with maximum temperatures expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius. The areas most affected will be the highlands, while the lower southeastern regions will feel the heat to a lesser extent. Coastal areas are not included in this warning.
Currently, no further alerts have been announced for the Canary Islands.
