Ascensión Toledo, the insular councillor for Inclusive Training and Employment, emphasised that “labour inclusion is a shared responsibility and an opportunity to build a fairer society.” She reiterated the council’s commitment to working alongside businesses and specialised organisations.

Victoria Trianes Abreu, director of Inserta Empleo in the Canary Islands, acknowledged the involvement of Lanzarote companies and highlighted that hiring people with disabilities introduces new skills and perspectives to teams.

The conference included a roundtable discussion on the challenges and opportunities of inclusive hiring, featuring institutional representatives. A particularly moving moment was a personal account by Yeray Betancort, who spoke about the difficulties and opportunities he has faced in his professional development.

The event also included contributions from Begoña de Felipe, director of the ILUNION Costa Sal Hotel in Lanzarote, and Sonia Rabazo, HR director of the Chacón Group, who shared their experiences with integrating people with disabilities into their workforce.

Concluding the event, which was attended by Marci Acuña, the councillor for Social Welfare and Inclusion, was a proposal exchange among participants and a musical performance by Jorge Caluz.

The conference underscored the commitment of the organising entities and participating companies to advance towards a more accessible and inclusive job market in Lanzarote.
