The Ayuntamiento of Yaiza, led by Óscar Noda, has launched a tender for the comprehensive modernisation of Jaime Quesada Street in Playa Blanca. The renovation, which is expected to cost around €1.9 million, aims to enhance the primary access route to the town centre, transforming it into the first open commercial and residential area in the tourist hub.
Companies interested in the contract can submit their bids until Monday, 30 November 2026. The project includes resurfacing the street, upgrading street furniture, lighting, and paving, widening pavements, creating shaded areas, and limiting vehicle access to a single direction from north to south.
Ángel Lago, the Yaiza Public Works Councillor, stated, “This initiative boosts pedestrian mobility, supporting local commerce and providing residents with a comfortable, barrier-free urban space that encourages them to use their surroundings.”
In addition to the Jaime Quesada project, Yaiza is currently investing €2.6 million in the complete refurbishment of Avenida Papagayo, adding new parking areas, resurfacing seven streets in Las Coloradas with a budget of €1 million, and completing the rehabilitation of the entry road to Playa Blanca through Femés at a cost of €1.3 million.
