Tragic Drowning Incident at Puerto del Rosario Beach
A woman, yet to be identified, died on Monday afternoon after suffering a cardiac arrest following her rescue from the sea at Nido de las Águilas beach in Puerto del Rosario, near the Fuerteventura Playa Blanca Hotel. Emergency services received a call around 4:45 PM reporting a person floating face-down in the water.
After being pulled ashore by a fellow beachgoer, lifeguards and firefighters from Puerto del Rosario attempted resuscitation but found the victim unresponsive.
Shortly after, medical personnel from the Canarian Emergency Service arrived with two basic life support ambulances and joined the efforts alongside a doctor and nurse from the local health centre. Tragically, despite their efforts, they could only confirm the woman’s death.
Local and national police were also on the scene to secure the area and conduct necessary proceedings until judicial authorities arrived.
