The Canary Islands’ General Directorate of Emergencies issued an updated alert for rain in the metropolitan area of Tenerife, effective from midday on Sunday, 1 November, due to forecasts of intensified precipitation. A yellow alert also remains in effect for the rest of Tenerife, El Hierro, La Palma, La Gomera, and Gran Canaria.

The updated weather forecasts indicate that rainfall intensity will increase throughout Sunday, particularly in the metropolitan area of Tenerife, where the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued an orange alert for expected accumulations of up to 30 millimetres in one hour between noon on Sunday and midnight on Monday. There is also a risk of significant rainfall accumulation over a 12-hour period.

In the western islands and Gran Canaria, locals can anticipate heavy showers on Sunday, though severity and distribution may vary.

The unstable weather is projected to continue into Monday, particularly between midnight and 6 PM, with further potential for strong localised rainfall.

Currently, it appears the rest of the eastern islands will not experience significant impacts, with Gran Canaria expecting its heaviest rainfall on Sunday.

Emergency services are monitoring the situation and have warned of uncertainty regarding the location, intensity, and duration of the impending rainfall, with updates to warnings and measures possible if conditions change.
