This decision follows information from the State Meteorological Agency and other sources, in line with the Specific Emergency Plan for Severe Weather Risks in the Canary Islands (PEFMA).

The alert impacts the peaks and western slopes of La Palma, as well as the metropolitan area of Tenerife. El Hierro, La Gomera, and other regions of La Palma and Tenerife will be under pre-alert status, while Gran Canaria is also on pre-alert.

Heavy rainfall is expected on Sunday, with accumulations potentially exceeding 30 mm per hour in La Palma’s west and metropolitan Tenerife. In other parts of La Palma, Tenerife, and including El Hierro and La Gomera, rain could reach or surpass 15 mm in an hour, with scattered and generally short-lived showers.

Instability is likely to continue on Monday, November 2, affecting the four western islands with further rain expected to exceed 15 mm per hour, possibly lasting into the early hours of Tuesday, November 3.

Currently, significant extension of this weather event to Lanzarote and Fuerteventura is not anticipated. For Gran Canaria, the highest chances of impact are expected on Sunday, November 1.

The situation remains uncertain regarding the timing and intensity of the rainfall, prompting the Emergency Management Directorate to monitor developments closely and adjust the alert if necessary.
