Voces del Territorio 2026 Initiative Set to Showcase Local Experiences
The upcoming MICRO Congress will feature the Voces del Territorio 2026 initiative, highlighting local projects aimed at combating plastic pollution through scientific collaboration.
This initiative originated in Lanzarote during the MICRO 2024 event, backed by the Papacría group and funded by its Biosphere Reserve. The project seeks collective solutions for waste management.
A tribute will be paid to the late scientist Juan Baztán, who passed away last year. An emotional video in his honour will open global sessions focusing on microplastics.
Thirteen organisations, including SEO/BirdLife, WWF, and the Real Club Náutico, previously collaborated to promote civic actions against waste. Additional support came from the Gara Project, Demarcación de Costas, GMR, and Pura Vida, along with contributions from SECAC, Fabiola Godoy, and Álvaro Guzmán.
Currently, Voces del Territorio 2026 has brought together seventeen Cádiz-based organisations in the fight against plastic waste. Participants include Natura Sin Basura, La Máquina Creativa, and Agaden Ecologistas En Acción, among others.
Supporting groups range from Redes Sostenibles and Voluntarios Ambientales Trafalgar to Colegio Miramar San Fernando, with further involvement from Asociación Bahía de Cádiz and Hombre y Territorio.
Papacría, established in Lanzarote in 2007 with roots extending back to 1996, is a collective of artists and activists focused on environmental respect through art, recycling, and technology.
