Santa Cruz de Tenerife’s Urban Planning department is set to inspect a supporting column of a building near the Barranco Santos, close to Puente Zurita. This follows concerns raised by local residents regarding the column’s structural integrity, crucial for the building’s stability.
Officials stated they would first check if there are any existing files related to the building. If necessary, a technician will be dispatched to assess the condition of the column and determine any potential risks.
Residents who contacted local media highlighted a noticeable deviation in the pillar, which, though not severe, warrants thorough inspections to ensure the safety of both the building’s occupants and nearby properties.
The building in question has six floors and relies heavily on the column, which is situated in an open area beneath the structure. Local concerns revolve around whether this defect could indicate more serious underlying structural issues, pending the forthcoming evaluation by the Urban Planning technician.
