Salvamento Marítimo Assists Migrant Boat Off El Hierro

Salvamento Marítimo has successfully escorted a second migrant boat to safety in La Restinga, El Hierro, on Sunday afternoon. The vessel, carrying 177 migrants—including 17 women and 11 minors—was spotted about ten miles south of the island.
The alarm was raised via the SIVE radar system operated by the Guardia Civil. In response, the Tenerife coordination centre dispatched the Salvamar Nadia, which located the boat and is now escorting it to port.
The irregular vessel was detected at approximately 12:05 PM.
