The inaugural LATAM VIVE festival has wrapped up with an impressive 9,368 tickets sold over two days, celebrating Latin pride and cultural diversity on the islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

Held on 10 and 11 October at the Arrecife fairgrounds, the festival transformed the venue into a vibrant showcase of Latin American culture. Festival-goers were treated to a mix of accents, rhythms, colours, and flavours, creating an atmosphere filled with joy and a strong sense of community.

Walking through LATAM VIVE was more than simply attending a festival; it was about rediscovering shared histories, reconnecting with roots, and celebrating the culture’s power to unite people across generations and nationalities.

Families, friends, and various age groups immersed themselves in the essence of Latin culture, creating a miniature Latin America in the heart of Lanzarote. The event featured thousands dancing, singing, and celebrating together, embodying a collective spirit brimming with Latin energy and positivity.

Community Leaders Celebrate Together

Oswaldo Betancort, President of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, was notably moved by the atmosphere, joining Echedey Eugenio, the first deputy mayor of Arrecife, on stage to address festival-goers during a poignant moment. He expressed that this event was one of the most inspiring experiences of his presidency, highlighting the pride and joy of the Latin American community in taking ownership of the festival space.

Betancort reinforced the commitment to providing a platform for the Latin American community, affirming, “The Latin community is also our community; it’s an essential part of our islands.”

The festival was not only about coexisting but also about sharing, celebrating, and embracing a common identity. Betancort emphasized that LATAM VIVE has opened doors for future cultural exchanges.

A Diverse Array of Performances

Music played a central role, featuring both international artists and local talent, including performances by Javier Vásquez and El Jeffrey. The festival’s lineup showcased the rich variety of Latin music, from salsa and traditional rhythms to contemporary urban expressions.

Emerging artists found their place in the spotlight, alongside renowned names, as DJ sessions kept the celebratory energy alive throughout the event.

The culinary aspect drew considerable attention, with diverse food stalls offering a taste of Latin American cuisine. Families enjoyed a dedicated children’s area with activities designed to keep young attendees engaged and entertained.

Reflecting on Success

According to official reports, LATAM VIVE saw a 19% increase in attendance on the second day, solidifying its status as an important cultural event for the region. Social media buzz also played a significant role, as influencers and the public helped amplify the festival’s reach and celebrate Latin pride far beyond the fairgrounds.

Organised by Preventos Media, the festival received funding from various local institutions, highlighting the collaboration between public and private sectors to support cultural diversity.

This year’s LATAM VIVE showcased the potential of culture to foster connections and promote positive change. The organisers expressed gratitude towards everyone involved, acknowledging the collective effort that brought this celebration of Latin roots to life and set the stage for future editions.
