Open-air Cinema Returns to La Oliva with Classic Animation
La Oliva is set for a magical evening as the Summer Mobile Cinema brings a special screening to Cotillo Public Square. The free event will take place on Tuesday, 8 October, starting at 8:00 PM, and continues to support cultural activities in Fuerteventura.
This initiative, organised by Tenique Cultural with the cooperation of the La Oliva Town Council, aims to revive the essence of traditional community cinemas. Residents can expect a warm and engaging atmosphere as families gather to enjoy a well-loved film together.
The highlight of the evening will be the screening of the acclaimed animated film My Neighbour Totoro. This Japanese classic appeals to audiences of all ages, telling the enchanting story of two sisters who explore a magical rural landscape inhabited by extraordinary creatures.
The film beautifully captures the innocence of childhood and is sure to resonate with both children and adults, making it an ideal choice for a heartwarming intergenerational gathering.
Last year’s screenings saw great success, with the square filled to capacity for the classic French film Amélie. Tenique Cultural’s president, Javier Fuentes Feo, emphasised the importance of these local events:
“This new session allows us to further our cultural journey. We strengthen our connection to public spaces, where cinema can be experienced as a rich, shared experience. In essence, we rediscover the joy of coming together around the big screen.”
Following successful showings across various municipalities, including a visit to Antigua last August, this event promises good company and delicious popcorn under the stars in the unique ambience of La Oliva’s outdoor spaces.
