Ryanair is set to cut back its operations at Berlin Brandenburg Airport this winter, resulting in the loss of 700,000 seats. The airline will reduce its fleet by seven aircraft and completely scrap 12 routes, including flights connecting Berlin with Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and Gran Canaria, crucial destinations as they enter their peak tourist season. Germany is a major market for these Canary Islands.
The route cancellations will also impact flights to other European destinations, including Marseille in France, Palermo, Pisa, Reggio Calabria, and Trieste in Italy, as well as Tallinn in Estonia, Thessaloniki in Greece, and Vilnius in Lithuania.
Ryanair will reallocate the aircraft to airports in Sweden, Italy, Poland, and Ireland. The airline has stated that this decision is due to Berlin being the least profitable airport in Europe, primarily because of its high costs.
