II Envite Challenge in Teguise Celebrates Traditional Games
The Teguise Council has launched an exciting new event, the II Envite Challenge, which will take place across various social and cultural centres on Lanzarote. This competition aims to promote local traditions and will run from 16 October to 20 November.
Encouraging Tradition and Community Participation
The Council is once again backing this initiative after the first edition received a great response from the public. The main goal is to keep local customs alive while fostering camaraderie among participants. Mayor Olivia Duque emphasised the importance of preserving these traditions for the community.
“The envite is a vital part of our popular culture. These gatherings always bring together family, friends, and neighbours. We want to keep this beautiful Canarian custom alive,” she said.
Revitalising Social Life and Cultural Heritage
Councillor Andoni Machín views this competition as an opportunity to enhance this recreational activity within the municipality. The cultural centres will serve as vibrant venues for community interactions. The event will feature a fun league format, allowing players to enjoy unforgettable matches across different towns. The Council is committed to promoting the area’s intangible heritage through engaging activities that blend tradition with participatory leisure, strengthening local community spirit.
