SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 2 October – Activists advocating for housing rights in the Canary Islands will take to the streets again this Saturday following the rejection of new housing decrees by the Spanish Government. The movement, driven by groups like Derecho al Techo and the Tenants’ Union on Gran Canaria and Tenerife, is focused on securing access to adequate housing.

As the protests expand, the future of the encampments that started earlier this week in provincial capitals will be decided in assemblies on Friday night.

In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the demonstration will kick off at 11:00 am from Plaza de La Feria, proceeding along Luis Doreste Silva and ending at the regional Government headquarters on León y Castillo, before returning to the starting point.

In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, protesters will also begin at 11:00 am from the sub-delegation of the Government on Calle Méndez Núñez, moving through various streets, including Plaza Weyler and Avenida José Manuel Guimerá, and concluding at the Presidency of the Government in the capital.
