The Canary Islands Sim Racing Championship held its penultimate round in October at Santiago del Teide, organised by AVR Events. The event attracted 30 participants across three categories.
Competitors were vying for one of nine spots in the finals set for 5 December on El Hierro, where top drivers from across the archipelago will compete.
The Casa de la Juventud in Puerto Santiago hosted the event, with notable attendees including Juan Carlos González, the Sports Councillor of Santiago del Teide, and Loly Guanche, president of the Barliamotorsport team. Both showed strong support for the event.
Competitors raced on two tracks: ‘Les Voltes’ (8.9 km) featuring smooth asphalt roads from Catalonia, and ‘Amfissa’ (8.7 km), which tested drivers on the rugged terrain of the iconic FIA World Rally Championship Acrópolis Rally. In the Children’s category, Dylan Lugo emerged victorious, achieving untouchable times, while Artem Kuzminov and Mireia Baldo rounded out the podium.
In the Junior category for participants aged 11 to 14, Brayan Martín delivered a commanding performance, establishing a remarkable lead of five minutes after the opening stage, ultimately securing victory. Aday Bravo took the silver, with Adrián Gorrín claiming bronze.
The Senior category featured the most thrilling battle of the season, with Fabián Rodríguez and Dylan Suárez pulling away from the pack. They finished the gravel course just 4.2 seconds apart, with Rodríguez leading. Suárez pushed hard on the asphalt but couldn’t catch up. Pedro Abraham Hernández finished third, securing the final spot for the upcoming finals.
The 2026 Canary Islands Sim Racing Championship is organised by AVR Events, with support from the Moya town hall, the La Gomera Island Council, and other local councils.
