The Canary Islands Government has issued a pre-alert for rain in El Hierro, La Palma, Tenerife, and Fuerteventura starting at 09:00 tomorrow, Wednesday, 21 October. This decision follows advice from the State Meteorological Agency and other sources, in line with the Specific Emergency Plan for Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA).
El Hierro has now ended its alert status.
The incoming weather system will bring unstable and humid air, leading to variable conditions with sporadic rainfall. Heavy showers, possibly accompanied by thunderstorms, are expected in El Hierro, particularly affecting the southern and eastern slopes of La Palma. In Tenerife, the metropolitan area is likely to see intense rainfall from midday, while Fuerteventura will experience similar heavy showers in the south.
Accumulated rainfall is expected to reach 15 mm in one hour and 60 mm over 12 hours.
Residents are advised to follow safety guidelines from the Directorate General of Emergencies.
