The evening will commence at 8.30pm in the Josefina Plá tent with a dialogue titled “De La Bola Negra a La Piedra Oscura,” moderated by poet Javier Vicedo Alós. Conejero, co-writer of the hit film “La Bola Negra,” will explore themes linked to Lorca’s world and examine how memory, identity, and dissent intertwine with artistic expression.

“La Bola Negra” has rapidly become a major success in Spanish cinema, grossing nearly €4.7 million and attracting over 600,000 viewers in its opening weekend. As of 12 October, it reached a total of €23.5 million, placing it among the top ten highest-grossing Spanish films ever. The film, inspired by Lorca’s unfinished work of the same title, delves into identity, desire, and historical memory, gaining recognition at international film festivals.

At 9.15pm, the Plaza del Palacio de Formación y Congresos will host “Padre Nuestro. Pasión y muerte de Federico García Lorca,” performed by the Valencian companies Migro Danza and Yapadú Artística. This piece uses movement, memory, and symbolism to reflect on Lorca’s 1936 assassination, broadening the narrative to include voices silenced by identity, sexuality, or ideology.

Directed by Edu Migro, the performance features actor Raúl Lledó and includes contributions from dramaturge Javier Sahuquillo and choreographic assistant Ana Luján, blending contemporary dance with physical theatre to explore expressive movement and soundscapes.

This day promises to engage attendees in a multifaceted exploration of Lorca’s work and its relevance today, highlighting crucial discussions on identity, freedom, and historical silences. The Fuerteventura Book Fair is organised by the Insular Library Centre under the Regional Minister of Culture, with support from the Canary Islands’ Cultural Development Institute and the regional vice-presidency for Social Welfare, Equality, Youth, Childhood, and Family.
