From 22 to 24 October, Corralejo will celebrate the 20th edition of its International Blues & Jazz Festival. The event will feature live music along Avenida Nuestra Señora del Carmen, showcasing artists from Fuerteventura, Tenerife, and further afield, including Madrid, Seville, France, Italy, and the United States.

The programme, organised by La Oliva’s Cultural Department in collaboration with the Fuerteventura Cabildo’s Cultural Council, includes a night dedicated to local talent, a Blues Night, and a Jazz Night.

A Night for Local Artists

The festival kicks off on Thursday, 22 October, at 7:00 PM with performances from local artists. Fuerteventura’s Das Pulpo Jazz Quartet and Tenerife’s Atlantic Jazz Ensemble, who will present Ella & Louis, are set to perform, alongside the Fuerteventura Big Band, which will showcase the show Her Voice, Her Jazz featuring Marey Martín and Alejandra Batista.

Blues Night to Feature Toronzo Cannon

On Friday, 23 October, Blues Night will begin at 6:30 PM. It will start with an introductory masterclass on blues-jazz dancing led by Nacho Peregrino and Cristina Martín, followed by performances from France’s Haylen & Sanpa Trio, Madrid’s Betta & The Groovers, and Chicago’s Toronzo Cannon & The Chicago Way.

Festival Closes with a Jazz Celebration

The final day, Saturday, 24 October, also begins at 6:30 PM and will be dedicated to jazz. Peregrino and Martín will hold another dance masterclass before the evening’s concerts. The lineup includes Madrid’s Noa Lur Sexteto, Seville’s Andrés Barrios Quinteto, and Tropical Moon Jazz, a group linked to both Madrid and Italy, who will close the festival.

A Long-Running Celebration

David Hernández, La Oliva’s Culture Councillor, praised the festival’s legacy, remarking that “Corralejo has become a reference point for both musical genres, attracting artists from around the world to entertain locals and visitors alike.”

Mayor Isaí Blanco invited residents and tourists to “enjoy this International Festival, bringing blues and jazz to life over three days on Avenida Nuestra Señora del Carmen.” Rayco León, the Cabildo’s Culture Minister, noted the event’s international line-up, highlighting the inclusion of local groups following two decades of celebrations in Corralejo.
