This decision follows reports from the State Meteorological Agency and other sources, as part of the Specific Emergency Plan for Adverse Weather Phenomena in the Canary Islands (PEFMA), according to a regional government statement.

Intense rainfall is expected, particularly in the central islands and El Hierro, with humidity levels influenced by tropical conditions and potential convective mechanisms due to the terrain.

Rain is likely to be most notable in the afternoons and into the early hours, with the possibility of occasional storms.

Heavy downpours could reach up to 20 millimetres within an hour, particularly affecting Gran Canaria’s northern and eastern peaks and midlands, as well as parts of Tenerife and El Hierro’s northern, northeastern, and southern heights.

In these areas, rainfall may persist, potentially accumulating up to 40 millimetres over 12 hours on Gran Canaria, according to AEMET’s warning.

Rain is also forecast for the northern and eastern midlands of La Palma and the highlands of northern La Gomera, although extreme conditions are less likely in these islands.
