Oswaldo Betancort, the island’s president, expressed his support, stating, “This system benefits families directly. We are turning public resources into real economic activity.”

Each digital voucher will hold a nominal value of €60, but consumers will only need to pay €30, with the government covering the remaining amount. Individuals can purchase up to six vouchers, allowing them to spend a total of €360. These vouchers will only be valid in registered local businesses, promoting local consumption. Digital formats will streamline transactions, making it easier for users to shop with their mobile phones.

Armando Santana, the commerce councillor, highlighted the benefits of the programme, noting that it will help local retailers directly. “Consumers will easily double their spending capacity,” he said.

The initiative will provide up to €6,000 per participating store, while fishing associations can apply for up to €15,000. There may be an increase in funding based on overall demand and budget availability.

Small businesses, including retailers, food vendors, hospitality, and beauty centres, can join the initiative, provided they have public-facing premises. Applications will be reviewed to ensure compliance with specific guidelines.

Businesses will register through a digital platform, where residents can also purchase their vouchers. Exact dates for the scheme’s launch will be announced following registration with the National Subsidies Base and subsequent publication in the provincial official bulletin. This financial boost is poised to strengthen the local economy while helping residents save on their everyday purchases.

The “Bonos Consume Lanzarote 2026” is a crucial public-private partnership, which aims to be a resounding success, offering a significant commercial opportunity for the island.
