Clavijo expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and called for unity and commitment to defend the interests of the Canary Islands above any political affiliation or the overall political landscape in Spain. “Above our party is Canarias, wherever we are. We have shown this from the opposition and now from government,” he asserted.

He emphasised the strength of a project built “from the ground up,” highlighting the dedication of the team who prioritises the interests of their islands and the Canaries as a whole. Clavijo asserted that despite ongoing political uncertainty in Spain, Coalición Canaria will maintain its focus. “If there are early elections, let them come. While others fight, we will discuss Canarias. We feel the pain of the Canaries,” he said.

The candidate underscored the importance of effective nationalist policies in achieving results for the islands, citing successes in migration, the Canary Island Decree, regional financing, and housing legislation.

Among the key challenges he identified were housing, demographic shifts, the upcoming European financial framework, advancing the Canary Island Decree, and contemplating the islands’ development model.

Clavijo stressed that they will tackle challenges with honesty, unity, transparency, and commitment, advocating for their identity and values.

The theme of unity pervaded the speeches from regional representatives. David Toledo, National Organisation Secretary, expressed pride in a party “rooted in the community,” committed to policies that benefit the Canaries. Pablo Rodríguez, Gran Canaria’s Secretary, claimed that Coalición Canaria is “stronger and more united than ever” and urged seizing the historic opportunity to advance Canarian nationalism.

Representatives from other islands echoed this sentiment. Mario Cabrera from Fuerteventura celebrated the difficult consensus achieved within the party as a vital strength. Victor Chinea from La Gomera emphasised that “Canarias always comes first,” while Pedro San Ginés from Lanzarote praised Clavijo’s ability to unify diverse island realities.

Clavijo concluded by recognising Gran Canaria’s efforts for unity, highlighting Pablo Rodríguez’s contributions. “The more united nationalism is, the brighter the future for this land will be,” he stated, calling for action and reaffirming that Coalición Canaria will maintain its agenda regardless of the political climate in Madrid. “Whatever happens in Madrid, we know what we need to do. We won’t be swayed by anyone else, as those who lead us are our neighbours, the Canarians,” he concluded.
