La Palma is hosting its Fashion Week on 2nd and 3rd October at the Benahoarita Archaeological Museum, aiming to showcase the island’s fashion talent and boost its profile in both national and international markets.
Island president Sergio Rodríguez launched the event alongside Miriam Perestelo, the Economic Promotion and Commerce councillor, and Andrés Acosta, creative director of Isla Bonita Moda. This year’s theme is “Beauty Reborn Without Limits,” highlighting creativity, identity, and the fashion industry’s potential to create professional opportunities and foster connections.
Rodríguez emphasised the growing community of fashion professionals in La Palma, which includes designers, models, and content creators, cultivated around Isla Bonita Moda. He stated, “Creating an industry means generating opportunities and recognising existing talent, allowing individuals to grow within a cohesive ecosystem.”
He reflected on the evolution of La Palma’s fashion community, citing the Isla Bonita Moda Talent Awards, which have increased visibility for emerging designers. Three years on, previous award winners, Lucía Martín and Silvia Saavedra, lead this Fashion Week’s makeup and hair teams.
Miriam Perestelo pointed out that the success of Isla Bonita Moda extends beyond the number of brands involved; it’s about the collaborative opportunities among professionals from various fields.
“We’re seeing creatives connect, gain experience, and participate in projects that enable their growth,” she explained, noting that fashion links creativity, entrepreneurship, culture, and economic activity.
Andrés Acosta remarked on the transformation of Isla Bonita Moda into a family of fashion, stating, “This Fashion Week reflects a mature project that generates tools and opportunities for La Palma’s talent to thrive beyond our island.”
The event will also see participation from various territories including Adlib Ibiza and Gran Canaria Moda Cálida, along with representation from Spanish fashion associations such as ACME.
Among invited guests are top model Ariadne Artiles and model-presenter Jose Toledo, along with notable personalities from the fashion and media sectors. The presence of students from the Manolo Blahnik Art School at the Fashion Week will further bridge the gap between education and professional practice.
La Palma Fashion Week invites the public to engage with the fashion industry, creating an inclusive space for professionals and citizens alike to connect, learn, and explore creative opportunities. The event, supported by Canarias Islas de Moda and the Government of the Canary Islands, promises to highlight the diverse disciplines within the sector, fostering new creative vocations.
This year’s event also enjoys the support of Sebastian Professional, who will assist backstage with hair teams.
