The Guardia Civil in Lanzarote has arrested two individuals suspected of drug trafficking following a surveillance operation aimed at detecting illegal drug activity.
During the operation, officers stopped a vehicle to conduct checks on both the occupants and the car itself. They discovered a concealed stash of hashish and a sum of cash hidden within the vehicle, raising suspicions.
The two occupants were arrested on charges related to public health violations and taken to Guardia Civil facilities, where further investigations were launched to clarify the circumstances and the origins of the drugs and cash.
As investigations progressed, authorities gathered information linking the suspects to other locations, vehicles, and potentially related items. This prompted judicial approval for multiple searches of properties associated with the suspects.
During these searches, various items of interest were seized, including several phones, satellite communication devices, a precision scale, anabolic substances, and a blank-firing weapon. These items will be examined further as part of the inquiry.
Additionally, officers seized a vehicle and a rigid inflatable boat, believed to be connected to the case, pending technical and forensic evaluations.
The detainees, along with the case materials, have been handed over to the Instruction Section of the Arrecife Court.
