The Lanzarote and La Graciosa branch of the Partido Popular (PP) announced on Thursday that former Tías mayor Pancho Hernández will run for the Senate. This confirmation follows an exclusive report from Crónicas Radio’s programme “Crónicas en Hora” on Wednesday. Maureen Mezari and Víctor Duque will serve as Hernández’s substitutes.
In addition to the Senate candidacy, Lanzarote and La Graciosa will also have representation in the provincial list for the Congress of Deputies, with Jeziel Martín placed fifth and Lorena Martín in eighth position. This list is led by former senator Sergio Ramos.
María Jesús Tovar, the president of the Lanzarote PP, expressed confidence that these candidates will achieve the best results for the party in the islands. She highlighted Hernández’s dedication to transforming the Tías municipality during his tenure as mayor from 2011 to 2019, during which he won three consecutive elections.
Jeziel Martín currently serves as the PP spokesman in the San Bartolomé Ayuntamiento, while Lorena Martín is a councillor in Yaiza and has previously been on the Congress list.
