HiperDino saved Canary Island households €39.73 million in the first half of 2026, driven by various promotions and special catalogues. This marks an increase of €4.8 million compared to the same period last year, reinforcing the chain’s position as the leading discount grocery store in the region. Among the most significant savings were fresh fruit and vegetable products.
The fruit and vegetable section is a strategic priority for HiperDino, reflecting high customer purchase frequency. This area not only generates store traffic but also enhances the brand’s image for freshness and quality, supported by personalised service.
With 295 stores across the Canary Islands and Balearics, HiperDino offers over 350 fruit and vegetable lines, 64% of which are sourced locally. Key local products include avocados, papayas, bananas, and tomatoes, particularly from producers in Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and La Palma. There are also organic options available based on demand and supply.
In 2025, top-selling items included local bananas, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, carrots, avocados, and papayas. Recent months have seen a rise in demand for convenience products, such as ready-to-eat salads and sliced fruit, driven by consumer preferences for health and time-saving options.
For fresh produce, HiperDino sourced 1,000 tonnes of local papaya from Tenerife and Gran Canaria in 2025, investing €2 million into the local primary sector. They also purchased over a million kilos of locally grown avocados, investing more than €7 million to support local producers. This focus on local products is a key aspect of HiperDino’s fresh offerings.
Customers often purchase fruit and vegetables weekly due to the perishable nature of these items, making this section crucial for encouraging repeat store visits.
Local produce holds significant importance for HiperDino, with 64% of their fruit and vegetable range sourced from nearby growers. This approach ensures fresher products, supports the primary sector, and generates wealth within the community. The appeal of locally sourced goods resonates with customers who prefer products with minimal transportation.
The key to customer loyalty lies in HiperDino’s commitment to quality local products at competitive prices, earning their trust as a preferred supermarket chain.
