Heart Lanzarote Festival Kicks Off with Free Performances
The fifth edition of the Heart Lanzarote Festival began on Friday at Playa Honda’s Urban Park, featuring a vibrant array of performances, music, and interactive activities. It will continue throughout the day and into Saturday, October 17.
The festivities kicked off with “Pum Pum Heart” by QB Cube School, an event that brought together students and local residents to enjoy music and drumming. The morning also showcased “Orkestrònia,” an interactive sound installation by Álex Rigol and Cía. “Jump and Olé,” a parkour and comedy act by Adrián Díaz, rounded out the day’s early showcases.
In the afternoon, attendees could participate in “Marea de Cuentos” with Vicki Dos Santos and Aarón Márquez, enjoy a free piano session with Suso Cabrera, and take part in the collective art project “Tendedero de artistas.”
The day featured further entertainment with “Triplette” from Labú & Cris Clown, “Esperando a Beckett” by Ian Garside, and contemporary circus show “Sinergia 3.0” from Compañía Nueveuno. The evening concluded with “Noche,” an artistic and sensory experience presented by Cuerpo Teatro and La CulturEco, suitable for audiences aged 16 and over.
The festival resumes on Saturday, expanding activities to Avenida de Playa Honda, starting with workshops and events for different age groups. Highlights include “Chinijos en Calma,” focusing on yoga for young children; a natural dye printing workshop from Ars Magna; a community percussion circle by QB Cube School; and a magic and clown show by Civi Civiac.
The afternoon will continue with participatory events and performing arts, including “Familias al pincel,” Srta. Poppis & Pupas, Elio Pérez’s free drumming session, and the “Otros Aires” performance by Dúo Laos. The festival will culminate with shows from Ararí Danza’s “Baleya,” Ramiro Vergaz’s “White Bottom,” and Abubukaka’s Otto Stragman.
The festival also emphasizes sustainability, inclusion, and community engagement. Organisers report that over 70% of activities utilize natural lighting, alongside measures like photovoltaic energy, selective waste collection, plastic reduction, and a preference for local suppliers.
With free entry, Heart Lanzarote is transforming Playa Honda into a celebration of culture, creativity, and performing arts this weekend.
